Mankato sat on top of his rock after just leaving his sister's side. He sighed as he thought about what things would have been like if he hadn't done many things...he knew his weakness was letting the humans continue, leaving his sister behind when he tried to get the Ellarians to safety...his ultimate weakness was his love for his sister, he had known she was young when they first got their powers and were first sent to become Guardians, and with that he feared she couldn't understand the full of it.
He had been gone from her life for quite some time and at a crucial point as well, the time that she would have needed his help and guidance, the kind only a big brother can give to his little sister...the others would never understand or those that do, wouldn't understand why it had to be him. Mankato sat down on the rock and crossed his legs as he closed his eyes remembering in clear detail and being able to picture that day...so long ago.
***
"Lue, you be a good girl now." The young boy spoke as he looked at his sister, his blond hair almost a mess but his pale eyes shining with love. "I will be gone for a little while for some training, but I will come back with time."
Mankato gave his little sister a hug as he stood up tall and looked down at her, he could see the saddness in her eyes as he fought back his own tears, he knew he may never see his sister for a really long time and hated saying that to her, he really hoped he was able to stay here and train but the ancients would not hear of that. 'You are to go to Earth and continue your training with the Ancients that still lay hidden there and there are no buts about it...you have been given a gift, a purpose, it is your destiny and you must fulfill it'. Mankato remembered trying to argue with the one who had been there that first day, but it was almost pointless, after those words were said it was over.
"Don't worry Lue, you do your training and you become strong and powerful and help these people...they need you." He smiled as he looked at his sister once more, he liked how she always looked full of life and energy and he couldn't help admire her soft features and her beauty, he certainly thought she was right for her spot as Guardian of water...water was always beautiful especially when the sun or moon hits it the right way. He remembered many times sitting there watching the sun or moon reflecting into the water making everything calm and peaceful. "There is water on Earth, and I shall go by it every night and wish you good night little sister." Mankato spoke as he placed his hand on her shoulder one last time and turned to enter the ship that would bring him to his new home. He got aboard and then buckled in looking at his sister and mother one last time before it took off. "I will be back" Mankato whispered.

Mankato felt as though he was falling at that point as he body jerked and he opened his eyes looking once more at Ellaris and being able to see Earth in the distance with the warships floating around it. He sighed as he stood and walked to the edge of the hill. He looked down at the castle...maybe that was why he had choosen this spot, because he was still able to see their home and make sure no one would touch it. He knew he would be able to tell when someone entered it, but it would always be nice to look at the ice and how the crystals formed the ancient writing of wisdom throughout. It had been a long time from when he had left for his training and for when he had come back. He wanted to go to Atlantis to help fight, but his mentor would hear none of it, saying it was much to dangerous and at that time no matter how much he fought with him trying to get back to help his sister and make sure she was ok, he couldn't.
"I am glad you were sent to Ellaris Luthenya." He spoke aloud more to himself but enjoying the sound that those words made and the feeling he got from them, a calm peace. He sat back down, but this time leaning his back against the rock as he held his hand out palms down and then turned his left hand to make a flower appear, he smelt the flower and then held it to the wind and let it fly with the breeze. He watched it for a few seconds before it disappeared. He then closed his eyes and began breathing deeply, taking a deep breathe in and feeling it go through his nose down into his lungs and the coldness of the air going through the rest of his body. He then let the breathe out slowly and felt the air leaving his lungs and going out through his mouth and letting the coldness out as well. He had been told he would be able to connect some time with his sister through this way, but he had never been able to do it, it had always been all black. 'Lue...' he spoke gently in his mind as he continued his breathing with his eyes closed.

"Lue..."
It was fuzzy. Before, words had come so clear, so understandable. Now they were just a blur of noise, clouding her already troubled mind. The girl remained still, her body unmoving for the simple reason that she had no strength. It had been centuries, centuries! Centuries since she'd last walked upon their dear, beloved planet. Now her worldly efforts here concentrated on merely existing. You couldn't call it living. No, she had no real life now. That last great battle had taken everything of hers. Everything. No, wait, not everything; she still had one thing to hold onto. Mankato. Her caring brother whom she had so dearly loved. It had been him who had called to her, she knew. No matter how confusing things could get, she could always be sure of him. Oh, the pain she must have caused him! Tis not a pretty thing, watching your little sister lay unconcious for five centuries. No, not very pretty at all. His single call echoed through her mind, getting louder all the time. It became just loud noise, still unclear, though she'd recognised it as her brother's voice. Of course, she could never mistake him. Never. Back in her room, in the real world, a finger twitched. In her mind, she could see his image. She could feel that overwhelming joy she'd first felt when the two had embraced after almost a whole century of no contact. That had been back when she'd first been sent to Ellaris. Her home, Atlantis, had been sunk deep beneath the oceans. She'd been sent here for her own protection. Now that seemed to have done nothing but prolong the enevitable. The long-rivalled race of the Wraith had still found their way to Ellaris; the once safe-haven turned battleground. Thousands had lost their lives, but they hadn't just been killed. No, it was far worse than that. They had been harvested. They'd had years of their lives being sucked from them. Her mouth moved slightly, murmuring something.
"Kato." The name slid from within her. A short burst of strength had enabled her to mutter his name. It had become clear to her that, in recent years, her strength had been growing faster than it had been these past centuries. She could awaken soon. Still weak, still helpless, but awake all the same. No doubt that would be a comfort to him. A strange feeling swept over her as she lay there, now unmoving again. Mankato wasn't in her room, nor was he about the ice-crystal palace she had once built. He was out at the Rock were he visited so many times. Always when he was troubled. She felt a sadness for him. My dear brother, how many times have my actions hurt you...? She thought. It surprised her that her own thought came so clear. She pondered over this for a moment. Back in Atlantis, there had been rumour of a way of connecting with those in stasis. It required enormous amounts of concentration, and only very powerful Ancients had ever managed to acheive it. The flicker of a smile caught the corner of her mouth. Mankato was more powerful than they were. Pausing, she wondered whether he had heard her first thought. Unsure, she tried to send him another, though it was frustrating that she could not move herself. Kato... Kato, my brother... I can hear you...

Mankato frown slightly knowing he hadn't been able to connect again this time...maybe sometime soon. He stood up and then sat upon his rock looking out at the world seeing it as it had been, as it should be now...the beauty that it had held onto for so long, the beauty that stayed within it until the humans had come. No. Until he had come. The anicents that once lived there had taken great care and control into it, making sure animals stayed as they were but who was he? Who was he to go forth and allow the humans to broaden their minds and learn truths and secrets far beyond their existences should allow. He lowered his head, remembering that first time...the first time he had step foot on the planet Earth, the planet he was to guard and care for.
...
Mankato got off the ship and stepped down, feeling the softness of the green blazes that hide the dirt beneath his feet. "What is that?" he asked as he knelt down getting a closer look at it. "It is grass." Came a voice ahead of him. Looking up Mankato saw an elderly figure coming forward towards him with such grace and wisdom. Mankato quickly shot up into a standing position and looked ahead as the anicent - the old ruler walked forward towards him. "Good Evening Mankato." The anicent spoke as Mankato now looked from the distant sky into the eyes of the anicent; the eyes that held so much intelligence and fire. "Good Evening, oh Great One." Mankato replied as he bowed low to the one before him. He heard a tiny chuckle as he looked up with one eyebrow raised unsure what the laugh was for. "Mankato. You are the choosen one, you shall bring wonders around here. Please do not bow to me and call me the Great One...call me Sky." Mankato straightened up and nodded his head.
He noticed the gesture which Sky had made motioning for him to look around at the many places and sights to see. Mankato did just that feeling his breathe being taken away with the view that surrounded him, never in his entire life had he seen something that brought so much beauty to his eyes, his heart, his soul. 'Lue did' he thought to himself as he frowned slightly, missing his younger sister already, he wondered what had come of her. "She will be fine Mankato, you have many things to learn and you mustn't have your mind blocked by the saddness you hold." Sky whispered softly almost inaudible. Mankato nodded his head as he once more took in the beauty of Earth, the green that was everywhere, the crystal water that shone in the sun and the sky - the brightest he had ever seen it. Everywhere he turned, all he could feel was the presence of the peace that was upon this world. "It is beautiful beyond words." Mankato said, once more bringing his gaze downward onto the grass - the first thing that had stolen his attention when he first got off his ship and arrived.
"There is many for you to learn, but remember you are in control, they will obey you without them knowing you are there...give them to much room and their push pass you." Sky said as his warning as he turned away from the ship and Mankato and began walking into the wilderness, beckoning for Mankato to follow.
...
Those words, those valuable words that Mankato had taken notice of, but didn't give much heed...the words that might have stopped all of this...all that had been happening.
Mankato shot his head upwards looking now at the true Earth, the thing that it has become. He sighed seeing the ugliness of it and feeling the tension and war that came with it. He had gotten so bad that they told him to leave and come to Ellaris to aid her. He once more smiled as he thought of Lue, the look on her face when they first realized it was each other and they were together once more. He would never forget that face, just as he would never forget the face that she held now, the peaceful silent one that held so much.
My dear brother, how many times have my actions hurt you...? Mankato shot his head up in surprise, had he just heard the voice of...? No...could it be possible? Could she really have spoken? Was she finally awakening after all this time? He felt a smile teasing his soft features as he thought it might have been possible. He shook his head slightly and lowered it, no it could not have been Lue...she certainly couldn't have spoken; he had been thinking about her so much that his mind is now playing games on him. Kato... Kato, my brother... I can hear you... Mankato quickly stood up, there was certainly no way he could have mistaken that. He looked in the direction of the castle wondering if she was possibly awake, or was she solely speaking within her mind. "Luthenya" He spoke softly aloud as he began to run as fast as he could back towards her. "My sister!" He said a bit louder.
~*~
Mankato opened her bedroom door, walking into the endless sky. And quickly going to Lue's side. "Lue" He said as he looked at her face.
